Last weekend we took the kids to a local church festival. There were lots of games and lots of fun! Emma had the chance to participate in the church's version of a pinewood derby. She got to pick one of sixteen cars that would be raced later in the day. She picked the blue car. Number 15. It also happened to be the fastest car!!
The derby was one of the last events of the day. They raced the cars in pairs and it was a double elimination tournament. Emma's car raced four times and won every match-up. There was no doubt. When it was finally down to the last two cars, everyone knew that the blue car would be the winner.
And then Emma went wild!
"A trophy! A trophy! I've never won a trophy before!"
Her joy was so pure and genuine that even the losers thought it was great!!
Great job, Emma!
